The Mukesh Varma Residence, located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, is a contemporary single-level home designed entirely around the principles of Vastu Shastra and the client’s personal numerology. Every aspect — from the site orientation to room proportions — is carefully aligned to auspicious directions, dimensions, and ratios, ensuring harmony, prosperity, and well-being. The entrance is positioned in the northeast for positive energy, private spaces are placed in the southwest for stability, and the kitchen occupies the southeast (Agni corner) to harness elemental balance.
The spatial plan is centered around an open-to-sky courtyard, creating a natural focal point and enhancing daylight and ventilation throughout the interiors. Public areas such as the living and dining open to expansive lawns in the north, while bedrooms with en-suites are tucked away for privacy. The design employs exposed concrete, timber cladding, and large glazed openings, paired with deep roof overhangs for shading. The landscape retains mature trees and integrates layered planting for softness, privacy, and seasonal character.
Sustainability is embedded through passive cooling strategies, rainwater harvesting, native planting, and energy-efficient glazing. The residence is a refined synthesis of modern minimalism and ancient spatial science, offering a calm, grounded, and prosperous living environment that resonates with the client’s lifestyle and beliefs.
